Joseph J. Daniels built more than 50 bridges in his career, most near his adopted home of Rockville in Parke County. The Neet Bridge was the last bridge he completed--he was 78 years old at the time. The bridge shows the vaguely rounded portals and Burr arch trusses that are hallmarks of a Daniels structure.
The bridge gets its name from Joseph and George Neet, who owned farms adjacent to the bridge. It spans Little Raccoon Creek and was bypassed in 1996, but is maintained as an attraction on the Parke County covered bridge Red or Black routes.
Current Condition of Bridge: The bridge appears to be well maintained in a landscaped surrounding. It is open to pedestrian traffic only.
