Wat Bot Mueang is believed to have been constructed in the late Ayutthaya period, the late 18th century. Certainly the Wat lies near the centre of the 'old town', and it has a number of buildings which are clearly not of recent construction. It also has, in its courtyard, a Kymer style, Baphuon era (967-1080) lintel, on display.
