King Chulalongkorn V (1853-1910), also known as Rama 5, is one of the great kings of Thailand, and fondly remembered by his people. Statues of him are frequently to be seen throughout Thailand.

One such statue is found in the front grounds of the Chanthaburi province branch of the Thai national archives. Unusual, in my experience, is that the statue of the king is gold in colour. The life-sized statue stands on a plinth. As with most statues in Thailand the statue is also a shrine.

* My photographs were taken during heavy rain. Not the best I have taken.
