Basically, two brothers came here to by farm land between the years of 1845 - 1855. Then people began to build a rail road here and more and more people came. Then finally in 1856 the first Post Office of Townsend was built and in 1857 the first Hospital of Townsend was built here. The two brother named this town Townsend because it was their last name.
