The fountain is made of brick and has a round bottom with a concrete coping. The center has another level which hold the water then in the center of that has four lion heads which spout out water. The bottom layer and middle layer have a ring between them which holds potted flowers all the way around.
These mini-parks seem to pop up from time to time in historic districts. This one is nicely complimentary and could hardly be counted as an intrusion. The plaza/park contains a fountain in the center, several dedicated benches, many flowers, shrubs and some trees. It is a green oasis amid early to mid 19th century homes. Across the street is another park. Dedicated April 17, 2004
Funding for the park was made possible by local donors including local businesses. The dedication plaque reads:
Columbia Town Square
Dedicated April 17, 2004
Columbia Borough and Columbia Borough Planning Commission recognize and appreciate the many community organizations and individuals who selflessly volunteered their time to plan and construct the park. Let it stand as a reminder to all as to what can be accomplished through dedicated community volunteer effort.
