The prof. fire brigade was originated in 1910 from the former fire brigade and had its seat at the 'Reglerring' at that time (today 'Juri-Gagarin-Ring'). This historical object was removed in 1995 and the danger protection center was covered.

The prof. fire brigade Erfurt celebrates the 100-year-old existence this year. The fire brigade of the Thuringian capital was founded in 1910 with nine firefighters at first - today there are about 220 employees who take care in a modern dangers protection center as well as in an other fire guard service.

To protect and to serve the citizens is always a task of the municipalities obliged to the public weal. From the year 1351 there comes the first fire order of the town of Erfurt, the breeding letter. Help in the neighborhood was the order of the hour with blazes. Many centuries went to the land, until 1862 took the organized fire-fighting being in the Thuringian town of Erfurt his beginning with foundation of the 'Turner-' fire brigade. With the economic development of the town at the beginning of the 20th century the town fathers created an efficient, constantly operational troop: on the 1st April, 1910 the professional fire brigade of the town of Erfurt ahd its hour of birth. Inalienably at the side of the prof. fire brigade stood and stand the members of the voluntary fire brigades of the town.

Today ~220 employees are occupied in the office for fire prevention, rescue service and emergency services, one of the most important structural unities of the capital of Thuringia. The fire brigade Erfurt was called last year to 1.748 help achievements, 1.115 fires and 1.38 emergency applications. The central directing center is a drop-in center for more than 100.000 help requests in the year and is in an arrangement area of 1.070 square kilometers of contacts of about 280.000 inhabitants. The modern danger-protection-center in the north of the capital of Thuringia and the second fire guard in the southeast of Erfurt for whose new building this year still the starting signal should fall offer the guarantee for quick arrival times. Also as an education center for the fire-technical service the prof. fire brigade Erfurt has all over the country an excellent reputation. A modern fire simulation container is available to the fire members.
