The plaque reads: "When it was constructed in 1876, this bank was the most important commercial building in Charlestown. It was designed by the firm Moffette and Tolman in the High Victorian Gothic Style. The building also housed Charlestown's Masonic Lodge on its top three floors."
The building still retains much of the detail from that time - engravings on it say "Masonic Hall" and "Savings Bank Building," among other things. It currently houses, among other things, a coffee shop and some professional offices.

Visit Instructions:
When logging a Massachusetts Historic Marker, we ask that you not only describe your visit, but to upload a picture from it. The picture does not have to be of the marker - one picture of the marker is enough. But a photo of you standing next to the marker or a photograph the subject of the marker - those are examples of possible photographs to upload.
