Sri Chinmoy, born Chinmoy Kumar Ghose, (August 27, 1931 – October 11, 2007), was an Indian spiritual teacher and philosopher who emigrated to the United States in 1964. He inspired the international Sri Chinmoy Peace-Blossoms program in 1989. This program resulted in the dedication of about 800 places as denoting peace and world harmony. Each peace-blossom, like this one at the Seattle Center, is marked by a commemorative plaque and is intended to provide an inspirational focal point for harmony in communities worldwide.
