The “Statue of Liberation Through Christ” is a 72-ft replica of the Statue of Liberty, in front of the World Overcomers Outreach Ministries Church located at Kirby Parkway and Winchester Road in Memphis, Tennessee. Unveiled on July 4, 2006, the “Statue of Liberation Through Christ” holds a cross instead of a torch, clutches the Ten commandments tablets, and has “Jehovah” on her crown. The over $250,000 statue is the result of donations made by the 12,000 member, World Overcomers Outreach Ministries Church. It is a fiberglass and foam sculpture over a steel framework.
Per the MemphisTravel.com site, “World Overcomers is a Spirit-filled, non-denominational ministry, teaching God's Word with simplicity for personal life application, that God's people prosper in life; equipping and releasing believers to do ministry work; reaching out to our community, city, nation and the world; without cultural, race, gender or denominational restrictions.” Apostle Alton R. Williams is pastor of the mega church which has a school, bowling alley, roller rink, and a bookstore. The church and the statue is located at 6655 Winchester Road, Memphis, TN 38115.
