The local legend is that Powell's Well was formed when the Powell family prayed at St Tudno's church as they were in need of water. The spring then started to flow.
Today the well is overgrown but lies next to a public footpath and is visible with a broken lid. It has a wooden sign declaring its position. The well provides water to the medieval farming community of Cyngreawdr together with Ffynnon Tudno and Ffynon Rufeinig.
