Marker Text:
The new streets, sidewalks, storm sewers and historic street lighting around this beautiful visitors area are the result of a community's planning for and commitment to its future. Rather than destroying the past as many construction efforts do, this &1,000,000 city - state improvement project has enhanced the historic features of this once infamous western cowtown of the 1880s. Through this generation's investment of public monies has come not only a better highway but also many unexpected private improvements and most importantly, a renewed pride in our hometown. Please take a moment and enjoy this history of the Old West, our Main Street businesses of today and the famous friendliness of our citizens.
