The Miami post office, in this county seat of Ottawa County, is located at 34 "A" Street, N.E. and serves a city of almost 14,000 people.
Hours: M-F 8:00-4:30
Sat. 10:00-12:00
A post office was established in Miami on April 13, 1891. The city was named for the Miami Indian Tribe and honors Thomas Richardville, the Miami chief who was instrumental in securing the townsite.
Miami is the home of eleven sites on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Coleman Theatre, located at 103 N. Main St. The Theatre opened on April 18, 1929 at a cost of $600,000. The elegant Louis XV interior includes gold leaf trim, silk damask panels, stained glass panels, a carved mahogany staircase and decorative plaster moldings and railings. The building is open Tuesday through Saturday and is currently used for functions such as school plays and church meetings. This is definitely a town you want to research before planning your visit. By the way, the preferred pronunciation of Miami is "my-am-uh."

Visit Instructions:
To post a log to an existing U.S. Post Office waymark, you will need to post a picture of the front of the building, with the name of the post office in the background if that is possible.
A description of your Post Office is required, such as when it was built, history, outstanding or unique features, population of the city or town, just do a quick internet search and find an interesting bit of information about the city or town and add it to the long description, to make it more interesting. Even just adding in the population of the area can give others an idea of how many people this post office serves. This description should be at least three sentences.
If your Post Office has any unusual or unique features that you feel others would enjoy viewing, additional pictures are always welcome.
Including your gps device in the picture is not necessary, but wouldn't be cause for disapproval, as long as all other details of your log are acceptable.
