County of Statue: Montgomery County
Location of Statue: Locust St., N. side of Civil Center in front of Police Station, Independence
Erected here: 2004
Original location was Myrtle St. & 10th St. in front of Municipal Bldg.
Police station use to be located there also.
Originally installed in 1995.
Ms. Thompson purchased number 37 of 50 and presented it as a memorial to fallen officers.
The artist made 50, some are plain bronze, some are partially painted, as is this one, and some are fully painted, as is the one in Colorado.

Proper Description of Statue:
A figure of a small boy, dressed in a short-sleeved shirt with a tie, belted trousers with sharp creases and cuffs, and laced shoes, stands holding a red, white, and blue triangularly folded American flag to his chest. The figure is placed atop an incised base.
