Huntington Beach City Flagpoles between the Civic Center and Police Station. Lately, the city flag I'm most familiar with - the letters HB in yellow with symbols of a surfer, a house, an atom, and stylized sailboats in the spaces of the letters, on a royal blue background - has been alternating with a flag that has a light blue background with waves on the sides, with the formal city seal - a circle bordered by rope, with the city and county name and a picture of a view of Catalina Island. I grew up with the first flag; however, I've been informed by a city employee that the latter flag is the formal city seal, and the HB flag was the result of a sponsored contest in the late 60's. Nevertheless, the HB symbol has been on all city flags, vehicles etc. from the 70's until now.

During 2009, the city celebrated its centennial, and all year flew a special flag with a centennial logo, which was yellow with a white and turquoise oval in the center. Bonus points if you have a photo of that flag.
