Nine Mile Dam was designed by Anderson & Porter of New York and was completed in 1908 to supply power primarily to the Spokane & Inland Empire Railroad Company's electric railway system.
Avista Corp., then known as Washington Water Power Company [W.W.P CO.], purchased it in 1925. The Dam has been placed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
