This two story Italianate style building was built prior to 1900 and was the First Bank of Joseph. Building has been occupied by the Wallowa County Museum since 1976 and was placed on the National Register in 1978. Building is located at 110 S. Main St.
The community of Joseph, OR is located at the end of Ore. Hwy. 82 near Wallowa Lake. The community has a population of about 1000. The community is named for Chief Joseph who in 1877 led several bands of the Nez Perce in a retreat towards Montana. The Joseph post office was established on April 23, 1880.
