The Family, a 535 seat single screen theater, opened in 1916 and was owned by Nick and Effie Shafer. The Shafer's had previously owned the Victoria and the Delmar theaters, and soon after the opening of the Family, opened the Shirley Theater on Holman Street. The Family did business in the Main Strasse area of Covington into the mid 1950's and today is the home of Mike's Music.
