Built in 1930 under the ownership of Dr Fred M Capron, Westmont was one of Akron’s finest residences during its early years. It is a splendid example of Tudor style architecture. The off-center entry of the building is housed within a stone Tudor arch accented by a voluted escutcheon and flanking spiral columns and octagonal pilasters. A bay window projection, spanning three stories above the entry, is topped by a gable slate roof with bargeboards and a large shafted finial. A Tudor-arched window with a decorative hood mold on the fourth story contrasts with rectangular windows with plain sills and hood molds on the first three stories. A bracketed pent roof of slate extends over the middle portion of the façade. Embellished belt courses and protruding gargoyle complete detailing.
