Anything bolted down is dedicated in a one block radius in this area. I counted over 100 dedicated trees. This tree is located in Morrissey Park.

This dedicated tree sits next to the sidewalk, about 6 feet away. To the rear of the tree is the park fountain and across the street is a drug store. I desperately tried to identify this tree. I know it is hardwood, deciduous and its leaves reminded me of a Walnut. It is a very mature tree and was obviously dedicated years after it was a sapling.

After walking the streets of downtown Merchantville for a few hours I discovered this is a “Shade Tree” kind of community with trees lining every street, business and each park and playground. The shopping area on Centre St, & West & Park Avenues are all very quaint. I spied lots restaurants, grocery stores, specialty shops, and all sorts of other eclectic shops. These dedicated trees enhance the natural beauty of this town.

The inscribed/etched white, polished stone marker at the foot of the tree is flush with the ground. It reads:

In Loving Memory Of
Albert & Almeda Slick

Location of the tree: Morrissey Park, West Maple Avenue

Type of tree: Walnut?
