This is the most notable & oldest of homes on this historic street. This great big home has some Victorian additions which have modified its Federal architecture, but w/ its great big stone foundation, there is no mistaking it for what it really is.

The house was built in 1805 and fixed up in 1905, according to the dates displayed at the top, under the gable, facing the street. The local historical society has marked this home as well. A beautiful porch with Victorian trim has eased the stoic beauty of this home.

For a more detailed and informed physical description of this site, I have added information from the original nomination form sent to me by John P. Byrne, National Register Database Manager (John_Byrne@nps.gov), Department of the Interior. This narrative was created March 16, 1979, mailed in to Washington, D.C. and evaluated April 18, 1980 and finally approved on July 21, 1982. Thanks to this designation and the efforts of the community to stop developers in the early 70s, Haddonfield is permanently protected and is one of the best example of an intact Colonial America. Potter Street is a wonderful example of some of the post colonial architecture which has made this town famous, especially this site.

Site of the historic old pottery, after which the street is naked. Built in 1805 of masonry foundation with 2½ story frame structure above. Rebuilt in 1905 and is now a residence. ALterations have been made in the Victorian era. Victorian style porch across the front. In very good condition with landscaped side and rear garden, enclosed by handsome picket fence. --- National Register of Historic Places Inventory -- Haddonfield Historic District Nomination Form
