Somdej (Princess) Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajajonani, in full, was the mother of the King of Thailand, Rama IX. Born in 1900, she lived to see two of her sons ascend the throne of Thailand. Over course of her life she was involved with a wide range of social welfare and assistance programs for Thai people, making her a much loved figure in the kingdom. She passed away in 1995, aged 94.

There are a number of statues commemorating her memory in Thailand. This statue is located in the small town of Sisaket, which lies ~450 kilometres to the north east of Bangkok, in a royal park. The statue is located just inside the park from the main entrance, on a small rise. It is easily seen upon entry.

The park (Rama IX Chaloem Phra Kiat Forest Park) is a pleasant recreation spot, with a small river, picnic spots, shady trees, and a zoo.
