The Appalachian Trail museum - which is located near the mid-point of the AT - opened on June 5th, 2010 in an historic building that once served as a grist mill.

The exhibits on display upon opening included an original trail shelter, and items that belonged to well-known AT hikers such as Earl Shaffer, Grandma Gatewood, Gene Espy, and Ed Garvey. The museum also has an area for children and literature related to the trail.
