This 30 foot observation platform is located within the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on the southern end of an 11 mile long barrier island known as Plum Island. The northern portion of Plum Island contains homes and businesses, while the National Wildlife Refuge makes up most of the southern portion of the island.
This observation platform, one of several within the refuge, is located in the southern portion of Plum Island. The observation platform overlooks portions of the nearby tidal marshes and the mainland to the west, but the primary views are of Stage Island Pool - an artificially created freshwater wetland 'impoundment' located within the salt marsh. The platform offers great wildlife observation opportunities.
A small parking area is located along Refuge Road (the main north-south dirt road that provides access to the southern portions of Plum Island). The observation platform can be reached from a short boardwalk that reaches across the march from the parking area to the platform.
