This clock stands in the centre of a small traffic roundabout, on the road to the town college, in the small town of Sisaket in north eastern Thailand. The clock is surprising in that it is a digital time piece—the first such I have seen in Thailand. The clock not only displays the time, but also the temperature. And—the clock also chimes on the hour!
I was standing under the clock at midday when I heard a chime, at first I thought it was coming from a nearby Wat, but no, it was the clock chiming!
Regrettably, there was no plaque or other information source available. It is on the road to the tech college, so perhaps these folk had a hand in the construction?
The golden flower on top of the clock tower is the "Melodorum fruticosum", which is colloquially known as the "lamduan" flower. These flowers are prominent in the region, several villages and towns are so named, and it is the state flower of the Sisaket province (as well as the state flower of Cambodia).
