These four girders were originally going to be removed at the same time as the business for which they held advertising. Both the billboard and the business were damaged by the Tornado of 2000, a category F2 storm that plowed through downtown Fort Worth on March 28, 2000.

This tornado, along with another that hit nearby Arlington and Grand Prairie, did an estimated US$450M damage to property and killed five people.

From Fort Worth Weekly (visit link) :
'Developers made a deal to move the local branch post office from its old spot between West 7th and Camp Bowie to the prominent corner of the big intersection. The billboard beams were moved about 50 feet from their original location to accommodate the new building.

"We're just going to let it stand for itself," he said. "So many people recognize it and know it's there and what it was."'
