It's not often one finds a Victorian style birdhouse with gingerbread trim on the grounds of a late Federal style home. I had an opportunity to talk to the lady who owns the neighboring house. She gave me some additional facts about the home. The lady who lives here at the Thackara home is 83. She lived there in 1936 when a picture (which I secured) was taken. If you look real hard and blow up the picture, I am pretty sure the birdhouse can be seen in the rear. Her father owned the house before she was born. To the rear of the house, there is a shed and on top of it is a beautiful bird house built by her father. The birdhouse, fixed and renovated a few times over the years is at least 75 years old.
Is this a functional box ?: Yes
Is this birdhouse for display only?: No
Is this box occupied?: I don't know
Species: I saw a thrush handing out on top of the house.
