The memorial is in front of the fire department building just to the north of the main doors.

It is in combination with the school bell that was retired several years ago.

Isabel is located in Dewey County, South Dakota, along SD Highway 20 about 20 miles from Timber Lake, the County Seat.

Its population is 231, as of July 2008. This reflects a 3% drop in population from the 2000 census.

The area was settled by German, Norwegian, English, Russian, Scottish, and Irish peoples, and the town was incorporated on April 4, 1911.
