Bison is located on SD Highway 20 in Perkins County, South Dakota. It is the county seat.
Its population was 326 as of July 2008 and the population has dropped about 13% from the 2000 census.
The town has several organizations and churches such as the American Legion, the Bison Boy Scouts, Bison Area Mens’ Club and a Catholic church, a Lutheran church, and a Presbyterian church.
The K-12 school system is nicknamed the Cardinals and offers a complete academic and sports calendar.
