I seriously have no idea why this hillside has the word "CRAVE" on it, spelled out in white rocks!

This mysterious sign is visible behind the historic marker that is alongside Hwy 24, east of Florissant, Colorado. There is no sign to explain why it is there; if anyone knows the history/significance of the word "CRAVE", I'd sure like to know!
