This Abbey has stood on this site in one form or another since 681ad.Ethelred of Mercia gave estates to St Oswald. The abbey was part demolished in 1540 by the king's Commissioners at the time of the Reformation.This is quite a mixture of different stone work due to the build and rebuilding at different times in it's history. This is a grade 1* listed building.
