They stand on the outside edge of the shelter which lies on the northern part of the Pink Walk in The Children's Woodland. Nearby is the children's play area.
The wooden carvings depict Wind in the Willows characters. Two stoats stand side by side, Toad sits on a stump and Otter looks on. On the other side of the doorway to the shelter are Rat, Mole and Badger. They are carved by the Essex Woodcarvers.
The Children's Woodland contains some 2640 native British trees and is sponsored by the Midlands Co-operative Society Limited. The area combines trees, wildlife and remembrance in an education effort. The trees are dedicated to children and babies who have passed away.
