A mausoleum built by Robert Mylne (4 January 1733 – 5 May 1811), who was a Scottish architect and civil engineer, particularly remembered for his design for Blackfriars Bridge in London.
He was appointed surveyor to the New River Company, which supplied drinking water to London, and to St Paul's Cathedral, where he was responsible for maintaining the building. Mylne also designed a number of country houses and city buildings, as well as bridges.
Mylne was one of the founder members, with John Smeaton, of the Society of Civil Engineers, the first engineering society in the world, established in 1771. He was also a founder of the Architects' Club.
Whilst the mausoleum is dedicated to the Mylne family, Robert Mylne is buried in St Paul’s Cathedral.
