During our last visit to Germany we took a picture of a great piece of street art in Brandenburg's Main Street. Fortunately, we took the coordinates too, hoping we could find a waymarking category for it. When we checked the picture later, we noticed, that we almost missed a very artistic manhole cover.
It is stamped by the German foundry Buderus (top) and dated April 1958 (bottom of the main picture). In 1981, Brandenburg's Main Street became a pedestrian area and the surface was redone with new, authentic looking cobble stones. Most likely at that time, the old manhole cover got its cobblestone mosaic, to better blend in.
