Nebraska city pioneers formed literary and library associations and struggled for years to raise funds to build a library. In 1986 Joy Morton, son of J. Sterling Morton agreed to build a library if the town would provide a lot and furnish the building. The Romanesque style building has had two major additions which have carefully followed the original architectural design.
