Fontaine de Tourny - Quebec, Canada - Fountains on Waymarking.com

The plaque reads:

"Winner of the Gold Medal at the Paris Worlds fair in 1855, this fountain and another like it stood at both ends of Les Allees de Tourney in Bordeaux France. It is being presented as a gift to the city of Quebec on the occasion of it's 400th anniversary by La Maison Simons, founded in Quebec City in 1840."

The fountain was originally created by French sculptor Mathurin Moreau at the Barbezat art foundry.

The fountain sits in a traffic circle in front of the Parliament Building. It is close to 7 meters tall and 4 meters in diameter. It is lit up at night. The fountain was inaugurated on July 3, 2007.
