The National Museum of the Marine Corps is in Triangle, Virginia, adjacent to the Quantico Marine Corps Base. The building's design reflects the the image of the flag-raisers at Iwo Jima. Learn about the lives and history of the Marines through displays of aircraft, ground artillery, life-size exhibits, artifacts, films, photographs, multimedia, and personal accounts as you travel through the galleries. Experience the sights and sounds of battle in the interactive displays.

The Leatherneck Gallery is the main room when entering the doors. There is aircraft from various wars suspended from the soaring glass ceiling and life-size ground displays of an amphibious tractor landing and a helicopter landing. Quotes and images are inscribed on the granite walls. Observation platforms at one end of the gallery are accessible by stairs or elevator for a bird's eye view.

The Legacy Walk travels through more than 200 years of Marine Corps history and has exhibits which include the American Revolution, WW I, WW II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Global War on Terror. Galleries depicting each era are along the Walk. Experience a winter night on watch in Korea and board a helicopter into a hot landing zone (LZ) in Vietnam through virtual technology. There is also a theater and museum store on the first deck.

On the second deck of the museum, a walk travels around the walls of the Leatherneck Gallery providing more views of exhibits below and aircraft in the air. There is a Mess Hall which provides a breakfast and lunch menu, the Tun Tavern which offers a lunch menu and alcoholic beverages and is a reproduction of the Philadelphia tavern where Capt. Samuel Nicholas recruited the first Marines in 1775, and restrooms.
