This lighthouse, operated by Canada Coast Guard - Fisheries and Oceans, is one of the two marking the entrance to the Niagara River. The pyramid shaped tower of this rear range light is 45 feet tall with a red-orange, electrically equiped lantran room on top. The front range light, located at the marina downstream, is identical but 15 feet lower. Both lights were estabished in 1903 and are still in use today as shipping navigation aids.
