Celebration, Florida was a master planned community by the Walt Disney Company to try and fulfill the vision Walt Disney had for a place where people could work, live, and play, which he called EPCOT. Unfortunately, Disney passed away long before he could carry out his vision. In the early 1990s, master planning began for Celebration. There are several buildings within the town designed by world famout architects, including the town hall building, designed by Philip Johnson.
Completed in 1996 and located in the heart of the 'downtown' area, the building appears to make fun of a traditional town hall building. Instead of a symmetrical row of imposing round columns, thin pillars crowd together beneath a pyramid-shaped roof. There are 52 columns in total, and these columns all but obscure the entrance to the building.
The town hall building houses nearly all the town's day-to-day operations. However since it is an unincorporated town, there is no town council or mayor; only a town manager who basically represents Disney and makes sure all matters within the community are performed according to the guidelines.
