Dating to 1611 this old Almshouse has been a private residence since 1972. It was built for a master and six brethren and has a painted sundial above the date and coat of arms of the Montagu family below. This is one of the most attractive Stuart period houses in the country. The inscription reads 'What Thou Doest Do Ye In Fayth'.

The Montagu's of Boughton are detailed on the website listed below. Edward Montagu was the first Baron Montagu of Boughton.
