In the 1800's this area was known as Hagood's crossroads and/or Mt. Pinson. Marvin's Chapel Church (now Pinson United Methodist Church) was established in 1875 probably as a Methodist Episcopal Church.

The cemetery was established in 1878. Marvin McCoy was the first person to be buried here in that year. Some of those buried here have relatives buried at Red Hill Cemetery, also located in Pinson. The cemetery is in excellent condition although there appears to have been some minor vandalism. It is an active cemetery. There are over 400 surnames represented in this cemetery. There are appoximately 1790 graves in the cemetry.
