This memorial appears to be three distinct sections. At the top is a statue of a Confederate Soldier, distinctive for having a mustache and beard and appearing more mature than most Confederate soldier sculptures, according to the Smithsonian inventory.
The statue rests on an intermediate base, featuring crossed rifles on the front and a wreath with "U.C.V." in it. This intermediate base rests on the inscribed base.
The inscriptions on the base read:
Front:
Erected to the Memory of the
Confederate Soldiers by the
People of Kaufman County
1861 - 1865
Left:
No Soldiers Ever Fought More
Bravely on the Field or Suffered
Greater Privations for Their
Country
Right:
Honor to Their Memory, Glory to Their
Cause and Peace to Their Ashes
Back:
They went down into Battle at the
Command of Their State and Fought
for Their Constitution, Homes and
Firesides
