The Nurses is one of several sculptures installed in the
Living Memorial Sculpture Garden. The garden was created by volunteers under the guidance of Ric deLugo as a memorial to war dead. Land for the garden was donated by the United States Forest Service. Funding for the sculpture was raised by donation.
From the Smithsonian description:
Figure group of four abstract figures. Two figures carry a stretcher between them. One figure lies on the stretcher. Beside the stretcher on the proper left is a female figure carrying an I.V. bottle. The sculpture stands on a red concrete foundation.
