This passageway is part of the Riverwalk in downtown Stuart. It connects the boardwalk on either side of the railroad bridge. The passageway passes under the railroad bridge; this makes for an unique experience when a freight train rumbles along overhead!
The railroad bridge is a drawbridge so any time you see the bridge down you know a train is coming soon. The railroad is active and currently used for freight traffic by the Florida East Coast (FEC) Railway. No passenger trains currently use this line but there has been talk in recent years of restoring passenger service to this line as well.
The closest access points to this section of the Riverwalk are the parking spaces along Dixie Highway at the sound end of the the Old Roosevelt Bridge and at the end of Flagler Ave by Flagler Park near the fishing pier under the Roosevelt Bridge.
