The large cross memorial has a sword etched in gold along its length. The names of the fallen from both wars are detailed together with the following:
'THEY SHALL GROW NOT OLD,
AS WE THAT ARE LEFT GROW OLD,
AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM,
NOR THE YEARS CONDEMN,
AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN,
AND IN THE MORNING,
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.'
'WHEN YOU GO HOME,
TELL THEM OF US AND SAY,
FOR YOUR TOMORROW,
WE GAVE OUR TODAY.'
'THE LAND ON WHICH THIS MEMORIAL STANDS WAS DONATED BY TOM WELLS' (of Charles Wells Brewery)
The memorial is in the centre of the village. It was implemented by the fundraising committee with Mr G. J. Tranquada as chairman. The Parish Council, local businesses and people raised the money for the memorial.
