Let us never, ever forget Those that heed the Call I myself salute those who serve With Honor, one and All.
This striking granite Obelisk sits in the center of Liebscher Drive, which loops around Prince Solms Park. Most people come here to launch themselves down the tube chutes (and today was warm enough, I was tempted). But this 'memorial' is worth a stray.
The monument itself appears to be grainite, in the Egyptian obelisk form [think Cleopatra's Needle, or the Washington monument]. In addition to the obelisk, the sidewalks leading in from the four cardinal points (hmmm, this could work like a sundial) are lined with 'dedication bricks.'
A nearby flagpole features the US and POW/MIA flags.
And I have to say, it's the CLEANEST park I've ever been to.
Unfortunately, other than the information on the obelisk itself, I have been unable to find any online information, including dates and so forth. Perhaps a later waymarker can fill in those gaps.
Type of Memorial: Non-Specific Memorial
Wars mentioned (Multi-war only): n/a -- all forces, all 'times of crisis'

Moving clockwise from the dedication, the next panel lists the Veterans Memorial Committee, and the next panel lists Acknowledgements (New Braunfels City Counsel, etc.)
The bottom panels feature the seals of the various armed forces: Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard....
The Flag Pole (to the west of the obelisk) features a 1 foot square (or so) granite marker:
DONATED BY
AERIE 2999
FRATERNAL ORDER
OF EAGLES
Date of dedication: unknown - but Brandt became Mayor in November 1991; so suspect early to mid 1990s
Who Put it Here?: "Veterans Memorial Committee" [no Legion Post or other affiliation given]
Description of Memorial: Granite Obelisk, roughly 30 feet tall (guestimate) set on concrete. Area 'checkerboarded' with red bricks, many of which are inscribed with dedications.
To the West stands a flag pole.
