Shaughnessy Mansion Apartments

Architects: Townsend & Townsend

This 1911 apartment building features its original projecting cornice, distinctive diamond-patterned buff brickwork and unusual brackets supporting the entrance pediments. It retains individual cornices over the entrances and the original windows. The apartments were originally two separate buildings joined by a common entrance. Architect brothers Alfred and Joseph Townsend design about twenty similarly exuberant buildings in Vancouver with buff and red brickworks featuring a zig-zag Argyle pattern. In 2005 the exterior was restored and the interior was completely rebuilt..
