Worthing is a small town located in Lincoln County, South Dakota, just south of Sioux Falls, the state’s largest city. It has a population of 993, as of July 2008. This shows an increase in population of about 70%.
The population increase is due, in part, to people moving to the area to work in Sioux Falls, about 15 miles away.
Ancestries include German, Norwegian, Swedish, Irish, and Dutch peoples.
Worthing has a city commission type of government with a Mayor and council members. The council meets on the 4th Monday of each month.
The memorial is a small area located on Main Street. It looks like a building had been torn down and the spot used for this memorial.
Several markers honoring the five services, Marines, Navy, Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard are in the background.

The US flag is at the center of the memorial.
