This ballfield is located in Hub City, South Dakota, northeast of Yankton.
"Since 1925, Hub City has been (and remains today) a social gathering spot. In the early 1930's, the businessmen provided free outdoor movies and promoted the Hub City Baseball Team. Hub City played some of the top teamss in the three-state area. The biggest game of the season was always played on Midsummer Day, with five to six hundred fans in attendance. The last game was played in 1948, following World War II." (The quote was taken from the memorial stone across the street from the ball field.)
Later the Dalesburg Lutheran Church built this ballfield across the road, south of the church. The field was named for Ben Carlson, a local citizen.
