The town of Oeiras is situated at the mouth of the River Tejo on the north coast of the estuary, roughly equidistant from Cascais and Lisbon. The appearance of Oeiras on the yachting horizon dates from September 2005, with the construction of a small, modern marina in the town just east of the Renaissance fort of São Julião da Barra. Oeiras now offers a useful alternative to Cascais for cruising yachtsmen reluctant to brave the shallow banks of the Rio Tejo and berth amid the noise and bustle of Lisbon itself. Transport from Oeiras to both of these cities is regular and easy.
The Oeiras Marina has a total of 275 berths on seven floating pontoons. Maximum length 25 metres. Maximum draft 3.0 metres. Security. Water and electricity at all berths. Toilets and showers. Laundry. WiFi. Fuel station. Crane (8T). Hard standing (4,500 square metres). Salt water swimming pool. Cash terminal. Small chandlery. Possible anchorage in sand off the beach just west of the marina, between the southern breakwater and the fort of São Julião da Barra.
In 2007 and 2008 has been distinguished with the Blue Flag, making it the only Atlantic Ocean marina with this distinction. It has also been distinguished with the “Marina of the Year” 2007 Vellis Prize.
