The Poor Clare Sister of Brenham first established this monastery with the intent to breed and sell Himalayan cats for their livelihood. That didn't work out so well, so they looked for another income source. Their attention soon focused on miniature horses.
These are not ponies. These are genuine horses, but in miniature form. The don't get more than 3 or 4 feet tall. The Sisters sell them all over the world and their horses have won countless awards for quality both in form and show.
Other than the horse ranch and related facilites, the grounds also are home to the monastery and a chapel as well as a small gift shop where the Sisters sell baked goods and their ceramic work.
The ranch can be visited Tuesdays-Saturdays from 1:30pm to 4:00 pm with an entrance fee of $4 for adults and $2 for children aged 3-12. You can walk the grounds and watch the horses at your leisure and take all the pictures you want. Usually, the chapel is open to visitation during those hours as well.
No pets are allowed, but there is a picnic area and picnic baskets are welcome.
